I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction and to demand a full refund for the Fork N Film event held last night in Brooklyn, which my wife Hannah Oswald and I attended with our 13-year-old son to celebrate his birthday.
We flew from Savannah, Georgia to New York specifically for this experience. What was marketed as an immersive cinematic dining event was, in reality, something entirely different—and frankly unacceptable.
The event was hosted inside what was functionally a sports bar and golf simulator venue during the NFL playoffs. Live playoff games were occurring simultaneously, a DJ was actively playing music, and the environment was loud, distracting, and wholly incompatible with any reasonable definition of a film-based dining experience.
There was no private dining space. Guests were seated at long, six-foot communal tables inside active golf bays. The “screens” were golf simulators, and the only way to hear the movie was through issued headsets—an admission, in itself, that the venue was never appropriate for a cinematic experience.
At no point during the booking process was it disclosed that:
- The venue was a sports bar / golf simulator facility
- The event would take place during NFL playoff games
- A DJ would be playing music before, during, or after
- There would be no private or enclosed dining environment
- The film would be displayed across multiple golf bays
- Audio would require headsets due to ambient noise
Had any of this been communicated transparently, we would not have purchased tickets—nor would we have planned and purchased airfare for a birthday trip around this event.
This was not a minor execution issue. It was a fundamental misrepresentation of the product being sold. The experience failed to meet even baseline expectations, let alone those implied by Fork N Film’s branding and pricing.
I am requesting a full refund for both Nicholas Oswald and Hannah Oswald. I expect prompt confirmation that this refund is being processed. These are two separate reservations with three total tickets purchased.
This event was meant to be a memorable family celebration. Instead, it was a masterclass in how misalignment between concept, venue, and execution erodes trust. Fork N Film has an opportunity to take responsibility and correct this.
Please CC any other Fork N Film representatives that are in a position to assist.
Regards,
Nicholas Oswald
